OLD GIRLS’ MART.
CHILDREN’S CONCFJRT. There is always something wonderfully attractive about a children’s performance, and the 'hour’s programme to be given three times at the Old Girls’ Mart in the Coronation Hall on Saturday next is sure to draw large audiences. There are to be recitations, songs, choruses and dialogues by tiny tots, and also two dances in each programme by little Miss Dell Thompson, medallist in fancy dancing at the Wellington Competitions. One very small girl with the voice of a bird will sing to the piano accompaniment of another little girl no bigger than herself, and one of the. country schools (Hills borough) will also provide a welcome addition to the programme. Last, but certainly not least, Wilkes, New Plymouth’s favorite, who has recently won laurels for herself and Taranaki at the Wellington competitions, will sing at this charming little concert. The performance will begin at two o'clock, will be repeated at three, and finally at four, in the Agricultural Society’s annexe opening off the main hall. Adults will be charged one shilling admission to the concert, and children sixpence, entrance to the mart itself being free. Near the concert-room door, in the main hall, High School girls will be in charge of a sweets stall, laden with delicious home-made sweets. Most of these have been made by the girls themselves, experts, of course, as all normal girls are in such matters. There will be jujubes and toffees, Brown Betty, chocolates, marsh-mallows, cocoanut ice, datecreams, ginger-cream and walnut creams. Every variety and combination of sugar, dried fruits, nuts and delicate flavorings will be found here, a delight to the palate, and all wholesome.
