A large number of remits were read for the council’s consideration. Tae~e are 75 remits on the agenda and the council took two hours in considering the chief ones. Most discussion was raised on a remit from fhe Warkworth Town Board, Auckland, which suggested that sub-section c of section 6 of the Municipal Corporations Act should be altered, as at present a borough council or town board might consist wholly of non-ratepayers Or. Jackson raised an emphatic, objection to the repealing of the sub-section, but several of the other councillors, spoke in support of the remit and after considerable discussion a vote was taken and it was decided to agree to the remit. It was decided on the motion of Cr. Lawson, seconded by Cr. Jackson, that the Mayor should be the representative of the council at the conference. KING EDWARD PARK. A number of young sycamore trees should be pulled out and a quantity of rubbish, such as old trees and branches, etc., should be cleared away. The new bridge needs tarring and sanding and the path leading to it requires attention, the arairi being apparently blocked. It was also recommended that a concrete base for the gun, which is at present in the entrance to the council chambers, should be placed on a suitable site. GENERAL.
