EX-SOLDIER PROBLEMS
LARGER PENSIONS WANTED.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Wellington, Last Night. The New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association executive discussed various matters in connection with the welfare of members—land settlement, the rentals© charged to soldier settlers, the high prices asked for land, the housing problem, advances to soldiers for home building and businesses, and poultry farms for invalid and delicate soldiers. There was a lengthy discussion on the proposal to ask the Government to increase pensions. It was stated that the pensions were inadequate at present, and should be increased. It was decided to wait on members of Parliament this week, and a special committee was appointed to go into ways and means so as to suggest how public money could be saved to provide increases.
