REPATRIATION.
NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE. A meeting of the New Plymouth District Repatriation Committee was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs. C. H. Weston (chairman), H. R. Cattley, W. J. Chaney, T. Furlong, F. Hartnell, and the secretary (Mr. A. S. Allen). After an absence of five months in England, Mr. F. Hartnell, the representative of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, again took his seat, and was cordially welcomed. The secretary reported that since the last meeting six loans totalling £640 had been repaid, and that in the majority of cases instalments were being paid promptly at due date. Over 43 per cent, of the amount advanced by wa j r of loan has already been repaid, and the percentage of arrears to amount advanced as at August 31, 1921, was only 12.8 per cent.
The executive committee’s action in granting five furniture loans of £5O each was confirmed.
It was decided that action to recover should be taken in respect of two advances.
The payment of a subsidy for six months to a farm trainee was authorised.
A claim for indulgence owing to illhealth was approved. An application for an advance of £3OO to acquire an established business and another of £l5O to purchase a motor launch were deferred for further investigation.
