SITE FOR SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—I crave a small space in your popular paper with regard to Tie location for the contemplated memorial to our fallen soldiers. I think the hill at the west side of Western Park (which the old identities called “Dicky Pott’s Hill”) the most suitable site, ns it is the highest hill, excepting Paritutu, within miles of New Plymouth. As regards a garden in front of the railway station, I consider it a short-sighted policy to use that land, as in twenty years or less time it will be worth £40,000 to £50,000 or more, and, considering the financial position of the New Plymouth Borough Council at present, I would strongly recommend the above mentioned site. I am willing to make a subscription towards the object. —I am, etc., OLD IDENTITY.
