PLUNKET SOCIETY
YESTERDAY’S FUNCTION An “afternoon” organised by the Plunket Society was held at Kawaroa Park yesterday. There was an attendance of about one hundred. The bungalow looked very pretty, the committee having devoted a good deal of attention to this work. Several songs were given during the afternoon by Air. Ernest Drake, the wellknown tenor. These received an appreciative reception and Air. Drake very generous in responding to Those who assisted in the programme were: Miss Arnold, Aire. Cooper (pianoforte solos), Mrs. Stuart Russell (recitation), Mr. and Mrs. A. B. MacDonald, and Mr. R. L. Cooper (solos). Accompaniments were played by Mr. Harold
Morey. At the conclusion of proceedings a vote of thanks to Mr. Drake, and to all who assisted, was passed. The function was organised in aid of the society’s campaign for the Dominion Baby Day (November 18) fund. The proceeds were about £lO.
