ESCAPED PRISONER CAPTURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, Sept. 21. Charles Henry Roxborough, who escaped from the lock-up on September 13, was arrested at Bainesse to-day. STOREKEEPER SHOT. Wairoa, Sept. 21. On receipt of information last evening that the storekeeper at Opuatama, George Sissons, had been shot without fatal results, Sergeant Wade proceeded to the scene and found Sissons ha/1 been shot in the back and hand. Marks of 88 pellets of No. 4 shot were showing. Sissons had come out and was closing his door when shot. He did not see his assailant. The police are reticent and certain aspects are -being investigated. MAGISTRATE’S COURT CASES. Christchurch, Sept. 21. Donald Pugh, aged 19, who broke probationary bail while awaiting sentence on a carnal knowledge charge last February, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, having been re-arrested In Auckland. He was remanded for sentence to October 4. Archibald Lloyd, taxi-driver, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a little girl, Kathleen Mary Archer, who was run over on Lincoln Road on August 13 after alighting from a tram. The case is proceeding. SHEEP. OWNERS’ AWARD. Marton, Sept. 21. Sixty flock-owners, at a meeting at Hunterville, passed a resolution: That, whereas farmers have adhered loyally to the decision of the Arbitration Court the representatives of the Shearers’ Union have by their attitude towards recent awards openly set the court at defiance, this representative meeting of flock-owners urges on the Government the desirability of the abolition of the present Arbitration Court award and also asks that at present and in future the question of wages for shearers and shed hands be decided by mutual agreement between the employers and employed.
