BUBONIC PLAGUE.
ANOTHER VICTIM IN BRISBANE. DEATH OF YOUNG WOMAN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 21, 9.45 p.m, Brisbane, Sept. 21 A second death from bubonic plague has occurred, the victim being a young woman residing at Kelvin Grove. WAR ON RATS. INFECTED RAT IN BRISBANE. Received Sept. 21, 10.30 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 21. The City Council has decided to pay sixpence per head for the destruction of rats, and distribute free rat poison and lend rat traps. No plague rats have been, found on shore , yet, but out of another batch of sixteen discovered dead on the Wyreema eleven were found to be infected with; the disease.
Sydney, Sept. 21. Dr. Armstrong, Director-General ol Public Health, states that, though only one rat on the Wyreema showed definite signs of plague the other five doubtless died from th© same but were too far decomposed to aHoM a thorough investigation. Brisbane, Sept. 2L ' A plague-infected rat has been discovered* in the Hamilton district.
