THE PORT TRAGEDY.

REMAINING BODY RECOVERED. FUNERAL OF THE TWO OFFICERS. The inquest on the victims of Sunday’s sea fatality at New Plymouth will be resumed to-morrow. The body of the fourth man, Mr. T. A. Butler, was recovered yesterday morning shortly before seven o’clock on the beach near the foot of Dawson Street. It bore evidences of contact with the reef.

The funeral of the two officers, the late Messrs. Lindsay and Landers, took place yesterday morning, when there was a large cortege. In addition to the ship’s company, a number of people assembled to pay a last tribute to the unfortunate men, and numerous wreaths were sent by sympathisers. The two deceased men, having been members of the United States forces, the returned soldiers were requested to attend, and there was a good muster of them. The bearers were in uniform. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. F. G. Harvie. It was followed by a short Masonic service at the grave of the late Mr. Lindsay. There was a good attendance of members of the order, headed by the Provincial Grand Master of Taranaki (Mr. W. N. Ewing), and the Deputy Provincial Grand Master (Mr. A. Goldwater).
