A BOY DROWNED. By Telegraph —l‘ress Association. Wellington, Sept. 19. Jack Napier Wickliam, aged 13, was drowned in the Hutt River yesterday while collecting driftwood brought down by the flood waters. He was standing on a shingle bank hauling in a log, assisted by a younger brother, when the rising flood swept him away in the swift current. Efforts to recover the body were unavailing. The boy’s parents reside in Camp Road, Lower Hutt. MAN FOUND DEAD. Christchurch, Sept. 19. Norman McKenzie, a clerk, was found dead in his lodging a pea rifle in his right hand and a bullet-wound in his right temple. He appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of indecent assault on a male, and was remanded for a week on bail of £3OO.
