An accident occurred on Broadway South near the Commercial Hotel today. A motorist was driving out of the town, and a boy who was following on a bicycle, thinking that he was going straight ahead, speeded up to pass the car. As he was passing the driver swung round to turn a corner, and the cyclist was knocked down. The cycle was broken, but the rider escaped serious injury.
A man stole a sum of money from the establishment of J. Vela and Co., a restaurant, on Broadway, on Friday morning. Both the police and the victims are reticent concerning the theft, but it is understood that the money, which was apparently in some place easy of access, was in a wallet, and the thief walked into the shop, appropriated the money and walked out again. This district appears to be suffering from an epidemic of thefts, and it' is hoped that an example will - be made of the next thief who is caught. Mr. A. J. Chainey, of Toko, who has been severely ill with pneumonia and pleurisy, is at present an inmate of the Stratford Hospital, where he has undergone a slight operation, but is progressing as well as can be expected.
THE KING'S THEATRE, STRATFORD.
Built upon a most dramatic situation in either life or fiction, made possible by divorce. “My Husband’s Other Wife,” which will be screened to-night, with the beautiful .Sylvia Breamer in the Stellar role, cannot fail to please. An actress with no use for home and children. married to a doctor with amoitions for working good, gratifies her whims by the divorce court. Eater she realises her loss when her husband finds happiness, home and children in a second union. It is the sour grapes story in a new light, and she tries to recover the affections she has lost. Tensely dramatic are the situations which lead up to a finale that is beautiful and ennobling, when the actress makes her sacrifice for the young girl-wife of the man she herself could not appreciate until too late. On Wednesday night Old England’s master picture, “The Better ’Ole,” from the drama by Captain Bruce Bairnsfather, will bo screened. “The Better ’Ole” runs the gamut of all the emotions. Its infinite variety plays with human feelings as an organist his instrument. It is stern duty, spangled with flashing humor, mirth, and mellowed by sorrow. Patrons are advised to book their seats for this picture. The piano which was advertised by T. Lamason for sale with Mr. Sharp’s furniture is withdrawn from sale. Business men of Stratford and district are reminded that all office supplies and requisites can be obtained from Messrs.
