MELANESIAN MISSION.

FUNDS TO CONTINUE WORK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In response to a special appeal made by the New Zealand Anglican Board of Missions, on behalf of the Melanesian Mission, the sum of £5690 has been contributed to date. Returns have still to come in from several parishes in different parte of the Dominion. The sailing of the Southern Cross is assured, and it is hoped that it will be possible to despatch the vessel from Auckland on Tuesday next, which is the fiftieth anniversary of the martyrdom of Bishop Patterson, of Melanesia.
