A FONDNESS FOR TOBACCO.

Frederick Arthur Timmis was charged with the theft on August 10 of six boxes of cigarettes valued at £lO, and on divers dates between December 15 and June 30 with 49,000 cigarettes, 173 lb. of tobacco, and 14 boxes of cigars, valued at £253. all the property of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat Co., where accused was employed in the grocery department. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Whare Hickey, alias Whare Matangi, was charged with assaulting Charles Remnant so as to cause actual bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
