Speaking at a reception by the Journalists’ Association to-day Lord Northciiffe referred to journalism as a very high profession. He had twice refused Cabinet rank in order to preserve his independence in that profession. (The editor of the Times, in which Lord Northciiffe has the controlling interest, recently refused a knighthood in order to preserve his independence.)
