LADHES’ TOURNAMENT. TARANAKI BEATEN. By TatafiTaph.—Press Association. Palmenston N., Last Night. The ladies’ hockey tournament was continued to-day in misty rain. The | defeat of- several of the leading teams I was largely attributable to the greasy ground. Results:— Section A.—Wairarapa 2, beat Poverty Bay 1; Manawatu A 3, beat Taranaki 1; Wanganui 3, beat Feilding 1; Hawke's Bay A a bye. Section B.—Marlborough 3, beat Hawke’s Bay B 2; Manawatu B 2, drew with Nelson 2; Otago 2, beat Auckland nil; Wellington a bye. Taranaki were favorites against Manawatu A, but were defeated, by the latter’s splendid play. 8 Miss Hendrickson scored for Taranaki and Misses Green and Hoblw (2) for Manawatu. The positions of the teams are:— Section A.—Hawke's Ray A 10 points, Poverty Bay 8, Wairarapa 8, Taranaki 4. Wanganui 4, Manawatu A 3, Feildiug nil. Section B.—Wellington 10. Otago 10, Hawke’s Bay B 4, Auckland 4, Marlborough 4, Manawatu B 3, Nelson 1.
