ANOTHER RECORD JUMP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Melbourne, Sept. 15. Musician jumped 7 feet 10 inches at the Wangaratta Show, making a new world’s record. VICTORIAN ESTIMATES. Melbourne, Sept. 15. In the Assembly Mr. Lawson, presenting ,the supplementary estimates for 1920-21, stated that the receipts were £18,522,000 and the expenditure £lB,365,000. LABOR LEADER RESIGNS. Melbourne, Sept. 15. Mr. Tudor has resigned the leadership of the Labor Party owing to continued ill health. Mr. Charlton will probably succeed him. UNIFORM RAILWAY GUAGE. * Melbourne, Sept. 15. The commission, appointed by the Federal Government to report on the railway guage problem, submitted a report recommending a 4ft. 84in. gauge for the Commonwealth, involving a cost of £40,000,000. THE SYDNEY BRIDGE. Sydney, Sept. 15. Mr. Bradfield, chief engineer of railway construction, lecturing on the North Shore Bridge, stated that the bridge would be opened in 1931 and it would be the heaviest piece of steel bridge work in the world. Mr. Bradfield is sailing for America and England to complete the contracts for the work. SEAMEN WANT MORE WAGES. Melbourne, Sept. 1,5. The Seamen’s Union is demanding an increase in wages, approximately 30s weekly, from the inter-State passenger cargo service owners. As a consequence overseas vessels are unable to carry/inter-State passengers unless they comply with the provisions of the Navigation Act. HOPES OF NATIONAL PARTY. Melbourne, Sept. 15. Sir Joseph Cook, addressing the National Conventions, referred to Queensland as a State showing the disastrous results of Labor rule. He expressed the opinion that the National tide was rising, particularly in Victoria, where Mr. Lawson’s victory was a triumph for National principles. LABOR ATTACK ON GOVERNMENT. Sydney, Sept. 15. Tn the Assembly the censure debate assumed a lively turn in consequence of Senator Gardiner. Independent Labor, attacking the Government. It is felt in some quarters that Senator Gardiner cannot consistently vote with the Government.
