SAMOAN ANNIVERSARY.
OF HOISTING OF BRITISH FLAG. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Sept. 14. At Apia, Samoa, August 29 was celebrated as the anniversary of the hoisting of the British flag there and wreaths were placed on soldiers’ graves. Colonel Tate. Administrator, held a reception of Samoan chiefs. The flag was raised at t'he courthouse, Apia, and a salute of 21 guns was fired. The Administrator delivered an address, during which he urged the people to place all animosities in the background and pull together with a view to making their territory as happy as it is beautiful.
