ALLEGED THEFT WITH VIOLENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Thomas James White was charged with the theft of £l2 with violence from the person of John Henry Russell, farm laborer, who alleged that accused attacked him in a train after he refused to supply him with liquor, knocked him down, and abstracted money from his pockets. Accused was committed for trial. INVERCARGILL’S JUBILEE. Invercargill, Last Night. Old identities’ day was observed today in connection with the borough jubilee, a large number of early residents taking part in a lengthy procession of motor cars, trade, and historical displays. Aeroplanes from the West Plains aerodrome circled overhead. WANGANUI’S KARITANE HOME. Wanganui, Last Night. A street collection organised, by the Swankers’ Club, in aid of the funds of the local Karitane Home, was held today, and resulted in over £350 being netted. The total, with domriions, will exceed £4-00.
