Bowling analysis.—Bancroft, three wick- ! ets for 70 runs; Shardlow, none for 65; Madden, three for 74; Tyldesley, two for 3; Smith, none for 28. Australia won on the first innings. The weather was line and the wicket excellent. Play throughout was lively and interesting, including bard “smiting”, several sixers being scored. Andrews and Taylor played a breesy partnership, adding 94 to the total. Taylor hit 'two sixers and ten fours. Pellew suffered a fracture, of the carpel bone of the left hand.
