J Lord Northcliffe, speaking at a civic i reception, said it was unthinkable that Australia and New Zealand should aot be represented at the Pacific conference, which would be the most vital ever , held, and which would decide whether it was possible to exclude Orientals from white countries. Lord Northcliffe i added that he intended to alter his plane to enable him to confer with Mr. W. M : Hughes with the object of taking joint i action to protect Australian interests.— ' Aus.-N.Z.
