MR. HUGHES AT COLOMBO.

SATISFIED WITH CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Pres® Assn.—Copyrigtt. Colombo. Sept. 12. Mr. W. M. Hughes has arrived on board the Ormonde. Interviewed, he said he was more than ever convinced that these meetings at the heart of the Empire were a tremendous advantage to all concerned. Undoubtedly the advice and opinions of. Dominion Ministers now carried great weight in Downing Street. He was- generally satisfied with the work •of the Conference, and anticipated much improved facilities for communication between the Dominions and Britain by air and cable services. He would continue to advocate the cheapest possible Press rates from overseas. The proposal to duplicate the Pacific cable waa being pushed, and the matter would be gone into as soon as possible. The present intention was to hold the next meeting of the Conference in 1923.
