THE ONGAROTO MURDER.
THIRD TRIAL OF KAHU. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Hamilton, Sept. 12. The third trial of Hakaria Te Kfthu for the murder of Patrick Richard Elliott at Ongaroto on Easter Sunday commenced this morning. The prisoner showed no sign of distress. Great public interest was taken in the case, and the Court was crowded. The Solicitor-General (Mr. W. C. Mac-' gfegor) appeared for the Crown, Mr. M. ’ H. Hampson, who defended prisoner at the two previous trials, again appearing for him. Hamilton, Last Night. The jury in the Ongaroto murder trial left to-night for the scene of the tragedy. They will return to-morrow and resume the trial on Wednesday. No fresh evidence has been given.
