‘TATTY” ARBUCKLE ARRESTED.

Roscoe (Fatty) Arbuckle, the cinema star, has been detained by the police a» the result of the death of Miss Virginia Rappe, a beautiful movie actress, who died of peritonitis, following a party in Arbuckle’s rooms, during which she had several drinks.
The police point out that the California law provides that a charge of murder shall be entered against anyone taking life during an attempt to commit a felony. A nurse attending Miss Rappe claims the actress stated she had been assaulted.
Arbuckle, upon the advice of counsel, refuses to say anything, but before being informed that the police desired an interview with him he had declared that after she took the drinks she became hysterical, tore bhe clothes off her body and compelled him to call a physician. New York, Sept. 10.
The developments following the mysterious death of Virginia Rappe, a pretty movie actress, have paused a sensation. Her death occurred after a supper party at Fatty Arbuckle’s rooms in San Francisco.
Arbuckle told the police that several attended the- party, including Rappe, who, after several drinks, became hysterical and after a physician had 'been called in died. On the other hand other women members of the party give quite a different version, which Arbuckle denies.
