HAMILTON STOCK MARKET. The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., report as follows: Beef.—Good supplies have been marketed, but values have again declined, 30s for prime ox seems to be the standard of butchers’ operations, and judging by the amount of beef offering it seems unwise to anticipate much better treatment. Mutton.—Yardings in general have been small, and values hav remained fairly steady. Considerable stock are, however, being held and any marked advance seems improbable.
Store Cattle.—These are now. finding their way to the yards in greater quantity, but meeting unfortunately with no better reception, indeed the whole position Is alarming in its bearing upon the cattle raising industry ’and ”breaking-In” of virgin country. It may safely be assumed that no male cattle will be reared in, the dairy districts this season. Females on the contrary are in strong and increasing demand, both well and ill-grown meeting with ready sale in all markets. Store Sheep.—Thej’ show, little variation from our last report. There is very little enquiry and but little offering.
Dairy Cattle.—They still pursue thqir triumphant course. Cows and heifers atprofit or close thereto are in strong and constant demand.
Pigs.—Latest returns Indicate improvement in bacon pigs and porkers. Stores and wean-. ers have advanced by leaps and bounds. Horses.—No sales have been conducted since our last report. Good results are anticipated for the Spring fairs. We quote as follows: —Bullocks, heavy prime £l2 to £l4 10s, medium £9 to £10; cows, heavy £7 10s to £9 10s, medium £5 to £6 10s, forward £2 10s to £4; steers, 4year £5 to £6 10s, 3-year £4 10s to £5 10s, 2-year £2 10s to £3 10s; heifers, 2-year empty £’s to £6 10s; cows, store 15s to £1 10s; heifers, R.W.B. 3-year Shorthorn £l3 to £lB, 2-year £9 10s to £l2 10s; yearlings, best steers £1 10s to £2, heifers £3 to £4 10s, medium mixed 15s to £1 ss: dairycows, best £l9 to £25, 2nd quality £lO to £l3; wethers, prime heavy 23s to 26s fid, medium 19s to 21s: ewes, prime 15s to 17s fid; wethers, forward 4-tooth 16s to 17s Gd; forward 2-tootV 13s to 14s Gd; ewes, forward Ils to 13s, store 6s to 7s Gd; lambs, fat 16s to 20s, store (shorn) best 9h to 12s, store (shorn) medium 5s Gd to 7s Gd; pigs, ba conptb £5 to £7, porkers £3 5s to £4 10s, good slips £1 10s to £2 10s, weaners 10s to .•-;) 2s; horses, heavy draughts £45 to £55, medium draughts £3O to £4O, light, draughts £25 to £3O, harness horses £lO to £l6, hacks £6 to £lO.
