NEW SOUTH WALES TOUR. FIRST REVERSE MET. WELLINGTON VICTORIOUS BY 16 TO 8. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The New South Wales footballers met with the first reverse of their tour when they were defeated by Wellington by 16 to S. There was splendid weather, and an. attendance of ten thousand. In the first spell New South Wales were favored by a strong breeze. The game was strenuously contested. New South "Wales became aggressive, and infringements of rules were frequent, the visitors being mainly responsible for trie faults. Louden made the first score for New South Wales, and Ryan equalised the score by scoring near the posts. The scores were unchanged at half-time.

In the second spell Parker made a fine run and scored a try, which King goaled. Following a forward rush King scored a try and a magnificent gosl from the boundary. A New South Walts foi-ward was penalised and cautioned for rough play. King placed the ball outside half-way and landed a remarkable goal. Shute scored a try for the visitors, and Loudon, kicked a fine goal.

MOASCAR CUP FINAL.

WON BY CHRISTCHURCH. BY 9 TO NIL. Christchurch, Last Night. The final in the Moascar Cup, between the Christchurch Boys’ High School and the Auckland Grammar School, attracted an attendance of several thousands at Lancaster Park. The weather was very fine. After an even and interesting game, Christchurch, the first holders of the cup, succeeded in retaining the trophy by three tries to nil.

The better team won on the day’s play, and ,f they had had a goal kicker they would have added several points to the score. Low. Hay and Warren scored for Christchurch.

At the conclusion of the match the cup was presented to Carleton, captain of the winning team, by the Mayor. ■Colonel Young, O.C. Southern Command, ■ said the splendid enthusiasm shown in the competition was in itself a fine thing.

WAIRARAPA (8) v. SOUTHLAND (10)

Carterton. Last Night. Wairarapa and Southland met at Greytown to-day. The game was a fast forward one. The Southland backs, late in the second spell, livened up. The first spell ended: Southland 7 (I. Brown potting a goal and Lopdell scoring a goal from a mark). For Wairarapa, in the second spell, Desmond scored two tries and Torrance goaled one. For Southland, Diack scored a brilliant try, which was not goaled. The game ended: Southland 10, Wairarapa S.
