DISTRICT NEWS.
WAREA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very pleasant function took place in the Warea Hall on the evening of Friday, September 2, when Mrs. Larking was farewelled by the residents of the district. The hall was well filled with friends from far and near. Mrs. Larking, who has lived in Warea for the past twenty years, has always taken a very active interest in the social life of the community, and willing to lend a helping hand on every occasion. Mr. Wells voiced the sentiments of all present when he mentioned the great esteem that was felt by all for Mrs. Larking. He had very great pleasure in presenting her with a handbag containing a well Ailed purse of bank notes. He hoped she would live long to enjoy the rest she much deserved.
Mr. Caldwell, on behalf of the hall committee, then presented Mrs. Larking with a handsome rug, as a'small memento in connection with the many services she had rendered to the hall committee. She had always been most unselfish in her efforts to help, and will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Ted Larking, who responded on behalf of Mrs. Larking, thanked one and all for the very handsome presents, which were greatly appreciated. In the course of his remarks he mentioned that they were not exactly taking Mrs. Larking away from the district. She would still be near to take an interest in tho affairs of the place. He thought she deserved a well earned rest.
During the evening Mrs. Ted Larking rendered two songs in her well finished manner, and Mrs. Bell played the accompaniments. Mrs. Beck and Miss Connie Julian played extras during the evening.
