IN PRAISE OF MOKAU RIVER.
(With apologies to the author of “The Bonnie, Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond.”) By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes, Where, the sun. shines bright on the mountain, Where we have passed so many happy days On the bonnie, bonnie banks of the Mokau. Oh, you’ll take the high road, and Ell take the low road, And Ell bo in Mokau before you For 1 and my old chums, we’ll all meet again On the bonnie, bonnie banks of the Mokau. We'll meet where we parted by the (lower pot and cave Cm that bright, bright day in the spring time, As wo gaze on the river where the cool waters lave The great scenic river, the Mokau. Wo listen to the waves and the moaning of the bar And the sea gulls’ loud note- in the. While the sun’s departing rays have lighted from afar The splash of the foam on the Mokau. —C.E.O. King- Country, 20th August, 1921.
