It is understood that Moplahs assembled at Tirurangadi, the main centre of the disturbances, refused to negotiate with the authorities for surrender. Au official message states that a movable column has taken charge of Tirurangadi. A number of Moplahs have surrendered. No fighting has yet occurred. There is another movable column left at Malappuram to deal with the Ernad district. Other reports state that a mullah and 30 others have been arrested in connecwith with the disturbances.
Khan Bahauri Chekkuty, a retired inspector of police, lias been murdered at Arakkaym. The rebels stuck his head on a pole and carried it through the bazaar.
Over 300 Hindus at Melmuri and Anshom have been forcibly converted to Islamism.
