FRIESIAN BREEDERS.
MEETING AT INGLEWOOD.

A meeting of settlers interested in the Friesian breed of dairy cows was held in the Inglewood County office on Wednes? day. Mr. C. Marchant, of Cardiff, chairman of the Taranaki branch of the Friesian Breeders’ Association, was convener of the meeting and There ' were also about twenty settlers present, mostly belonging to this district though Mr. Marchant had with him : some Cardiff friends, ainongst whom was Mr. T. H. Richards, owner of “Mona vale Queen Bess,” the two-year-old heifer that has recently completed her season, scored a record for the Dominion in her class, and yielded to her owner a return from the factory of £lOl 2s 9d on a pay-out of 2/9 per lb butterfat. A very interesting address to those assembled was given by the chairman, who explained the objects aimed at by the association, as well as the advantages accruing to farmers through join- ’ ing. He gave facts and figure*- on which j supporters of the based the ■ claims of that breed to the highee place amongst dairy herds, and told o the work done to secure its recognition from A. and P. societies and the good results of their effort. A vote of thanks to Mr. Marchant wa.s enthusiastically recorded, as was also one of appreciation to the Taranaki Daily News for, the support always given* to the association, as well ns to all steps taken by the settlers to forward the interests of the farming community. Thanks to the Inglewood County Council for the use of the room concluded a pleasant and instructive meeting.
