On Saturday last the final of the club championship’ was played, W. B. Glasgow defeating H. Hayhurst by 7 up ami 0 over 36 holes. The course was in good order, though the hard ground made the greens difficult. In the first round the game was very even, Glasgow finishing 3 up in 88 to Hay hurst's 91. In the second round, Hayhurat began well, j and at “dead easy” had reduced Glas- ; gow s lead to one. Glasgow then won • 6 holes in succession, and, halving 1 “Alo*e*” won the match by 7 up and 6 I to play. Although on this season’s form it was expected that Glasgow j would win. there is very little between | the first four on the handicap list, name--1 ly, Glasgow, C. Sampson, Fowler and Hay hurst. Several beginners, notably i Hall and Jaggs, have shown greatly im--1 proved form, and it is hoped shortly to ■ put up a team against an outside club.
