ACTION AGAINST MINISTER. By Telegraph—Press Association Dunedin, August 31. The New Zealand Workers’ Union will sue the Minister of Public Works for breach of award in working men in the Ida Valley in wet places without consideration for this kind of work. This grievance is of many months standing. IMPORTED SUGAR REGULATIONS. Wellington, August 31. A Gazette extraordinary, issued last night, notifies that it shell not be lawful for any person, firm, or company, to offer for sale sugar refined outside New Zealand unless each separate package in which such sugar is delivered to the purchaser bears the word “sugar,” preceded by the name of the country in which the package was refined. The object is to prevent foreign refined sugar being sold as New Zealand refined. AUCKLAND LOANS. ' Auckland, Last Night The city ratepayers rejected a proposal to borrow £120,000 for the improvement of the old market site by 1962 votes to 1161. They carried a drainage loan of £72,500 by 1291 votes to 889 and a loan for concrete paving of the great south road ( £20.000) by, 1103 votes to 1056. The ratepayers of the One Tree, Hill road district rejected rating on unimproved values and carried a loan of £50,000 for concrete paving of the Manukau road, resultant on the withdrawal of the Government subsidy.
