MURDERS AND LOOTING.
TROOPS HELD UP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Delhi, August 27. The Provincial Congress Committee at Corals has invited Gandhi and Mohammed Ali (another leader) to visit Malabar to pacify the fanatical Mop lahs. The district magistrate confirms the murder of Mr. Eaton, a European resident, and reports wholesale arson and looting, with occasional murders, throughout the affected area, which, owing to the disordered communications, is threatened with famine.
According to a report from Manorji trees have been cut down wholesale and bridges and culverts destroyed to prevent the entry of troops. The fanatics proclaimed e Swaraj in the disturbed areas and hoisted the green flag as a signal for revolt.
