WASHINGTON CONFERENCE.
JAPANESE PRESS VIEWS.
By Tolegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright.
Tokio, August 26. Press comment on Japan’s acceptance of the Armament Conference varies. The Kokumin Shim-bun says the Note is marked by insincerity through the undeserved compliments paid io America. The paper adds: “How can America be justified in interfering in Far Eastern questions? It is just as absurd for America to interfere in the Orient as it would be for Japan to drag the Mexican problem or Britain South American questions before the conference.”
The Hochi Simbun says the presence at the conference of Senator Lodge, who never failed to seize an opportunity to harass Japan, is the only cloud on thu horizon.
, The Jiji Shimpo says the acceptance is so satisfactory that it may justly stand as an expression of the hopes of the Japanese nation.
