SALE OF DAIRY FARMS. The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report:— On Saturday, the 13th inst., we submitted to auction on behalf of the trustee of the estate of the late Edward Jollie, the well-known Waireka estate, situated at Pa tea. The property was subdivided into four farms, and the following sales were effected:— Lot 3, containing 51 acres, £lO5 per acre. Lot 4, containing 5? acres, £B5 per acre. Lot 5, containing 55 acres, £ll5 per acre. Lot 1, one acre section, was passed in at auction and has since been disposed of. The homestead block was passed in at £55 per acre. THEIR OWN FIREWOOD. DAIRY COMPANY’S ENTERPRISE. The Pihama Dairy Company four years ago bought some bush land for finewood purposes. Since then 1600 to 2000 cords of mixed firewood has been cut. It is proving quite a profitable enterprise, and the company has lately been replanting with quick-growing timber like the gums, pines, etc., which are thriving. In presenting a report to the annual meeting of the company, the committee in charge stated:— ‘"We feel confident in stating that if the scheme outlined is persevered with in from ten years on, not only will we have an adequate supply of fuel, but also wotwi and fencing material for the shareholders.” THE PIHAMA COMPANY. The Pihama Company's pay-out for the past year was at the rate of two shillings per pound of. butterfat, and when final returns are to hand 1 the available balances will be distribut. ! ed to suppliers by way of further pay- : ments.

The following are the statistics for the year: Milk * received for buttermaking, 5,877,'5901b; butter-fat, 243,229.41 b; butter made, 287.9711 b; average test, 4.1; milk received for cheesemaking, 6.690,8881 b; butter-fat, 247,64d.31b; cheese made, 604,2931 b; average test, 3.7.

The results of the working during the cheese period at the respective factories is as follows: Central—-9.21b milk to lb cheese, 2.791 b cheese to lb butter-fat, average test 3.77. average grade 91.722: Skeet Road—-9.81b milk to lb cheese, 2.661 b cheese to lb butter_fat. average test 3.70, average grade 91.65; Waiteika Road—lolb milk to lb cheese, 2.711 b cheese to lb butter-fat, average test 3.53, average grade 91.5. The average grade for creamery butter was 92.323, and for whey butter 88.038. Whey butter to the value of £l3lB 12s was manufactured during the cheese-making period. Casein to the value of £1093 12s was manufactured at the main factory during the butter-making period.
