The weather wan fine but dull at the opening of the Australians’ match against an English eleven at Eastbourne, but there Was an improved wicket, hard and fast. The attendance was six thousand. England batted fins't, their innings proving sensational, all the players, who were amateurs, being diemissed for 4S. the lowest innings total of the tour. Kent by 5 wickets, scoring 315 for 5 wickets in their fourth innings (Hendren 93 not out). Yorkshire beat Essex on the first innings.
The present position is: Middlesex <7 points, Surrey 73, Yorkshire 69, Lancashire 64, Kent 63.
Mead has completed three thousand runs, being the first to accomplish the feat in fifteen years. The latest averages are:— Batting.
