SUPPORT FROM JAPAN. LIMITATION OF ARMAMENTS. THE IDEA WELCOMED. By Telegraph.—Prefs Assn.—Copxrttfht. Received August 25, '1.30 pan. Washington, August 24. A Japanese Note accepting the invitation to the Armament Conference has been received. It expresses pleasure at President Harding’s initiative and declares that the peace and welfare of the world has long been a chronic subject for solicitude. The Note adds that the Japanese Government and the people alike welcome the idea of the limitation of armaments and are sympathetic to the suggestion for the control of the use of novel agencies of war. The arrival at general principles and their applications at the conference is regarded as of great value and importance. The Note adds: •‘The Government Would emphasise preeminently the vital interest Japan has in the preservation of peace in the Pacific and the Far Eeast.”—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Asst;.
