An important meeting of representative# nf variou.- organisations in the ngri cultural and pastoral industry was held to-day, for the purpose of discussing means wbeiteby their mutual interests find requirements may be represented with due weight to the Government. The conference is called by the executive of the Council of Agriculture with the object of endeavoring to arrive at a constitution satisfactory to all concerned. Mr. G. L. Marshall presided. The majority of the speakers were averse to the formation of a separate organisation, and tavored setting up a central council to control the general interests of the farming community. The following readation was carried. ‘That the organisations represented at this meeting unite to the extent of setting up a National Council composed of representatives in appropriate numbers from the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, the Sheepowners’ Federation, the Council of Agriculture, and the Dairy Association. such executive to deal with all matters of common interest generally but not to interfere with matters affecting individual organisations exclusively; 1 for the purpose of carrying out the above, a committee Ijc set up to draft a constitution and submit it to a future meeting of delegates for ratification and adoption.” The committee was constituted as follows:—Messrs. W. J. Polson, J. Begg, J. D. Hull, W. Perry, O. Hswkea, MJ?., G. I* ( Mnrshall, and E. AverilL
