DEATH ON THE DORSET.. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Auckland, August 23. A third-class passenger, Mr. H. Stondhewer, died of heart failure on the steamer Dorset on July 7, three days after the vessel left England tfor Auckland. He was buried at sea next day, Captain Somes vine . reading the burial service. A BUTCHER ASSAULTED. Gisborne, August 23. As John Ludwig, butcher, was leaving his shop last night he was struck on the head by an iron bar sustaining a scalp wound. He called out, but his assailant jumped a fence and escaped. MORE HAMILTON BURGLARIES. Hamilton, August 23. While the family were away the house of Mr. E. J. Mears was entered and a quantity of jewellery stolen. The loss is estimated at £-120. Last night there was another burglary, the window of Mrs. Watts’ stocking factory being broken and hosiery valued at £2 stolen.
