YOUNG MAN’S THEFTS.
OVER £2OOO INVOLVED. By Tatefranh —Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night/ At the Magistrate’s Court to-day Patrick John Butler (21), a clerk in the State Coal Office, Christchurch, wa« charged with having stolen sum® totalling £2033 4s 4d from the State Coai Department between September 1,192 U and August 4, 1921. Accused pleaded guilty. The evidence showed that tht money was taken from the cash register When accused confessed he said he pul all the money in the Post Office Savings Bank, where there was almost £2OOC to hi® credit. He had refunded al] the stolen money. Previously he had borne an excellent character. Butler was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, being granted bail.
