BOXING.

TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held at New Plymouth last, night, when Mr. E. Whittle (president) presided over a good attendance of members. Arrangements wore made for the forthcoming tournament, which is to be held in the Coronation Hall on Saturday, September 24. A new plan was adopted on the suggestion of Mr. R. Day, which will provide for the seating of 1500 persons in comfort. Mr. N. Howell was appointed to take charge of the “house” at the next tournament. Arrangements were made whereby Keenan and Cadman, the contestants in the middle-weigh I championship, will be in* New Plymouth a week prior to the contest and do their preliminaries in a hall, to be arranged by the committee. It was decided to arrange the following, amateur bouts:—Willis (New Plymouth) v. Clarry (Eltham) ; McCarthy (Auckland) v. Venus (Wanganui) ; Mills (Riverlea) v. Kurta (New Plymouth); Hope (New Plymouth) v. Brosnan (New Plymouth) ; Collins (Stratford) v. Sullivan I (Stratford), fly weights. Mr. R. Paul donated a medal, which it was decided to award to the winner of the ! McCarthy-Venus bout. 1 The chairman stated that when in I Blenheim he had received every courtesy at the hands of the Marlborough Boxing Association. It was resolved to forward a letter of thanks to the Marlborough Association (pr the courtesy shown the chairman.

A vote of thanks was also accorded the officials of the. Workers’ Hall Committee. The secretary' was voted a bonus of £lO 10s. A meeting of the centre committee will be held on Tuesday next, at 8.15 p.m.
