A Wanganui resident who recently applied for help in the house states that she was surprised to note thp number of women who applied for the position, all with one or more children. Some of these were also recently arrived immigrants, who intimated that their husbands had not yet found suitable employment. and hence their desire for work to keep the family going in the meantime. The slatementa filtering in from time to time that immigrants are roving round the country in quest of berths leads one to doubt, the official stereotyped, statements- sent out when each boat load is due to arrive, viz., that all have been nominated work to go to on arrival in the Dominion.
