A hundred were killed when the soldiers fired on a crowd who were attempting a minor revolution. EXCURSION STEAMER STRANDED. London, August 20. A steamer with 1500 holiday-makers, returning from the Isle of Man, grounded near New Brighton lighthouse. The receding tide stranded her high and dry. The fire brigade rescued the people by means of fire escapes and ladders planted at the ship’s side. A crowd on shore witnessed the rescue. INDIAN TRADE BALANCE. Delhi, August 21. For the first time in 14 months the balance of trade is in favor of India. The balance is partly due to the export of treasure. No wheat has been exported to Europe.
