DISTRICT NEWS.
MIDHIRST. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Midhirst. Ladles’ Guild held their annual concert last Tuesday evening in the Methodist Church, when the following programme was given to a large and appreciative audience: —ltems by the Midhirst Methodist Choir, glees, "Oh, Hasten From the Busy Town," and “The Village Choiristers”; quartettes, "Queen of Night," and "The Happy Fanner”; song by Miss Kivell, Mrs. Tapp, and Rev. L. B. Neale; recitations, Mrs. Marsh; humorous readings, Mr. Silly; instrumental duets, Miss G. Kelghtley and Mr. Pickles; dialogue, eight children. Miss Kivell also gave a fine exhibition of club swinging. A splendid supper was served by tte ladies at the close of ,the concert.. The balancesheet and annual report presented during the evening showed tho guild to be a real live concern, the splendid sum of £lOO having been raised during the year by way of a bazaar* in aid of the Methodist forward movement. The social evenings held by the Guild during the winter months were appreciated, especially by tte young people. The following Guild officials have been elected for the ensuing yeflr:—President, Mrs. A. L. Witheford; vice-president, Mrs. Smith; treasurer, Mrs. Pollock; secretary, Mrs. Harkness.
