Mr. Weston congratulated the school on the great success it had achieved and hoped that in the coming year an even greater number would take up life-sav-ing. Ho pointed out that being able to swim was not everything; the iium- < her of swimming accidents that were always occurring proved that' a knowledge of life-saving was of great value, even among children, as even a small boy or girl who had qualified, was better able to eave a life than a grown person. On being asked for a show of hands from those children who could swim among the assemblage almost every hand went up. Mr. S. G. Smith, as chairman of the Central School Committee, congratulated the swimmers on their success. Referring to the team spirit, he said it lied achieved great things in many directions, and it was undoubtedly this spirit that I contributed to the success of the Hughes i Cup team. At Mr. Smith’s caff three hearty cheers were given for Mr. and I Mrs. Weston. Cheers were also given (for the visitors, and the winners of the awards wore heartily applauded by the whole assemblage.
