ARMOUR’S AND LICENSE.
U.S. GOVERNMENT PROTESTS. REPRESENTATIONS TO BRITAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 19, 8.30 p.m. Washington, August 18. The State Department has made representations to the British Government on the subject of New Zealand’s refusal to grant Armour and Co.’s Australasian Company a license to export to .Britain. The representations intimate that the New Zealand Government ascribed greater weight than the United States Government did to the Federal Trade Commission’s allegations that Armour’s, of America, indulged in unfair practices. It was further stated that the Australasian Company is not connected with the American concern, that the Dominion’s action was inconsistent with the granting of permission to export, to the United States, and that rc involved discriminatory action towards important interests of a friendly nation.— Aus.-N.Z.
