MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
NEW PLYMOUTH SITTING. ALLEGED ASSAULT CASH, A short sitting of the New Plymouth Magistrate’s Court was held before Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., yesterday morning. A young man, Roger N. Sharrock, appeared on remand to answer a charge of assault against Myrtle E. Julian. The alleged assault took place early last Saturday morning on the way home from a dance. The adjournment was granted on Monday to allow Sharrock to call the evidence of another young man named Allen, and when this was heard yesterday the Magistrate dismissed the information against Sharrock. CHARGE OF FORGERY. Stanley Hunt Mercer, of Tongaporutu, was charged that, on October 13, 1920, he forged the name of W. J. Avery, of Awakino, to an order for liquor, and i forwarded it to David McPherson, licensee of Waitara. The police further proceeded against Mercer for keeping liquor for sale, and selling it, in a no-license area. All three cases were adjourned till August 25, bail being allowed in one surety of self £lOO, two others of £lOO each.
