WAR TROPHIES.
The New Plymouth Borough Counoil, at the request of the New Zealand Government, is arranging for an exhibition in New Plymouth from August 27 to September 3, of a very large collection of war trophies lately exhibited in Wellington and Napier. The newspapers and educational authorities speak in very high terms of the value of the collection, which includes a German aeroplane, mines, guns, foreign uniforms, shells, and many valuable pictures. It is divided into sections, i.e., German, Turkish, Greek, etc., and includes an industrial section showing how the enemy overcame the scarcity of wool and rubber. There are bicycles with springs for i tyres, and clothing made of paper. It is proposed to arrange special days for school children in parties, and the teachers have the matter in hand. Monday, the 29th inst., being setYs.po.rt as eouniry chil<lri*n’s day. Mr. R. Day. of the Borough staff, is in charge of the arrangements.
