N.S.W. FINANCE.
REPORT OF A BIG LOAN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received August 18, 8.10 p.m. London, August 17. The newspapers publish a cablegram stating that Mr. Storey (Premier of New South Wales) has arranged to borrow £19,500,000 in London, spread over three years, at 5} per cent. Financial circles doubt the accuracy of the statement, as it is impossible to forecast the conditions in the loan market even for a week ahead, and they instance New South - Wales’ inability to place £3,000,000 in June in the same manner as Mr. Storey intends. It is also pointed out that some New South Wales stocks are purchasable at a price yielding 137/6 per cent, and others 133/6. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
