THE £60,000 LOAN.
RATE OF INTEREST APPROVED. (By Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Willington, Last Night. This week’s Gazette contains a notici authorising the New Plymouth Borongl Council to pay seven per cent, interest on their loan of £60.000, to be raise< outside New Zealand, for electric light ing and power works. The loan was raised by the council 01 the Sydney market some time ago, th< negotiations being subject to the counci securing the necessary approval from th« Government to pay the required rate oi interest. The loan assures the finance* in regard to the carrying on of tin hydro-electric works, and the official authorisation is one of the final steps nee essary to enable the council to draw oj the loan.
