WEDDING.

CLARKE—BARR. Whiteley Church, New Plymouth, was the acene of a pretty and popular wedding on Tuesday, July 26, when a large crowd gathered to witness the wedding of 'Eva Christina (Christie), only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Clarke, of Okato, to William George, eldest son of Mr. T. Barr, of New Plymouth. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very sweet in a dress of white crepe de chine, with the usual veil and coronet of orange, blossoms, and carried a lovely bouquet of choice spring flowers and asparagus ferns. Miss Elsie Webber, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid, and wore a pretty frock of pink silk with net bodice and sleeves, and a hat of pale mauve silk, her bouquet being ' white stocks and daphne. The Misses Phyllis Andrews and Clarice Roebuck',' cousins of the bride, wore frilled frocks of white crepe de chine and silk lace mop caps, relieved with pink and blue respectively, and carried baskets of flowers to match. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Harold Rowe as best man, and the Rev. Martin, of Fitzroy, was the officiating minister. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Clarke entertained a large number of guests at the Hygienic tea rooms, where the usual toasts were honored. Later the happy couple left for Wanganui, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride’s travelling dress was a tailored costume of navy serge with pin stripe of white, and a pale blue crepe de ‘chine hat. The presents were numerous and costly, including several cheques, testifying to the popularity of the young couple. Mr. G. H. White presided at the organ, and played the wedding march as the bridal party left the church.
